It feels productive (&#8220;I&#8217;m sorting this out&#8221;), but it isn&#8217;t: it sharpens stress and lowers the mood. The way out succeeds less through more thinking than through a change of direction.<\/p><h2>Rumination and problem-solving<\/h2><p>Problem-solving leads to a step: a decision, an action. Rumination circles questions without answers (&#8220;Why me?&#8221;, &#8220;What if?&#8221;) and ends in exhaustion.
