A short look at what truly matters to you, your own yardstick instead of comparison with others.

Duration: 10 minutesWhen: When unsure, deciding, or feeling run by others

Here’s how

  1. Write down 8 to 10 values that matter to you (e.g. honesty, calm, connection, courage).
  2. Cross out until 3 remain, the ones without which you wouldn’t be you.
  3. Ask of each: “When did I last live by this?”
  4. For the coming week, choose one small action that fits one of these values.

A calm self-help exercise, no substitute for therapy. Leave out whatever doesn’t feel good.
